new car

We got a new car, a 2017 Silver Hyundai i30! We went to Zone Conference in Elbasan and they gave us this brand-new car! It is so fun to drive too!! Not tryin' to be a salesman but I like it!

We found some cool investigators in the middle of no-where! It's called "Samatic" (This might be the first time anyone talked about it on the interest) And he really likes us! At the end of the lesson he gave us 2 watermelons, and a giant bag of beans!

I don't know what was happening this week, but in Lushnje (my area) they were having so many activities!
--A protestant church had a cool concert. Literally right underneath our balcony!
--For 3 nights there was a beer-fest right by our house, aka on the boulevard, everyday lasting until 12 midnight or so! The best part was that we could here it from out house! **Roll Eyes Emoji** I felt like it was the opposite of the great and spacious building! ;) They did have some good songs so I'm not complaining!

Our investigator, this 50 year old lady, read "Ammon cutting off the arms" and thought it was the best thing in the world!

Spiritual thought:
This week we had 44 people in church, the most we have had in a long time! We had 43 cups of sacrament water.. So we had to go grab one more cup of water at the end and blessed it for one person! It made me think about how special the sacrament is for each one of us individually. Even if we miss one person, we will bless the sacrament again for that one person! Remember The Savior sacrificed his life for each one of us individually! This Gospel is individual! We all can receive an individual relationship, and testimony of The Savior! I invite you to gain an individual testimony of the Book of Mormon!

Have a great week!

4th of July

On the 4th of July, we had a testimony meeting with our New American Mission President! He served in the military so he is very patriotic! His name is President Anderson from St. George. He is super cool!  I brought an American flag to this meeting because it was the 4th! It was a blessing because we sang The National Anthem! All 3 verses, with the flag unfurled by Elder Larsen and I. After we folded it, like we learned in boy scouts.  All of us with our hands over our hearts, except for this one missionary from England. He put his hand on his shoulder haha! And to close we sang America the Beautiful! Blessed to be American!

On the 4th in English course, I taught my students The National Anthem and The Pledge of Allegiance! With the flag in front the class room!

This week was awesome! We had a baptism! I gave a talk and directed the baptism! We made brownies and carrot cake this week too! They were super good!

Turns out one of our recent converts, she's like 50 years old, has been teaching kids to beat each other up, in the road! I laughed so hard!

Spiritual thought:
We watched the restoration movie this week and one thing really stuck out to me. Joseph Smith's message to people concerning the divinity of the church was always based reading and praying concerning the Book or Mormon.  Just ask God if this church is true! It is as simple as that!

love you all! have a great week!

Watermelon and Cheese

Albanian drivers:
I love Albanian drivers they are so creative! They love to double park, which is when people are parked on a busy road and they park NEXT TO the people parked and usually get in the way! And as long as they put on their hazard lights and come back before the police come it all works out! It is usually just to go get something from inside a store! While driving here in Albania there is a common rule:
I protect my bumper and you protect yours!
We went back to the farm with the hedgehog and it wasn't there... But this time it was planned service and we pulled out the dead tomato plants and got the green house ready for next year! Then they fed us. I had been told a lot to eat watermelon with this crumbly cheese. It wasn't that bad! :) watermelon and cheese! Try it at home!

We dropped Elder Holding off in Tirane so now it is just 3 beds 2 Elders and 1 giant house! I will miss that kid though!

We went on an exchange, Elder Johnson came to Lushnje with me and Elder Larsen. It went grrreeeaaaatttt!!!

Spiritual Thought: This week I read in Alma 13:27 "I wish from the inmost part of my heart, yea, with great anxiety even unto pain, that ye would hearken unto my words, and cast off your sins, and not procrastinate the day of your repentance"
Alma knows what he is talking about here!
Please repent today! :)

Love you all!
Have a great week!

First off this week we had district lunch in Berat! It went about an hour over.  After we ate lunch! This is me patiently waiting for my food! #Classy

Testimony meeting with President:
President came down to lushnje to meet our district before he went back home, and had a testimony meeting! It was cool!

Here is a picture of him!

How I met my best friend:
We decided to do some unplanned service, when we got to the house of this member with a giant field of tomatoes. We picked a couple of rows of tomatoes in our white shirts and ties, because again it was unplanned.

We didn't pick all of those tomatoes, but we picked enough to help! :)

This is where the good part comes in, when we are done picking the tomatoes one of the children of the member brought over a thing that looks like a ball of spikes. Then it started to open, it was a Hedgehog! Not Low Key it was super cute! And because I am a man, I picked it up and took some pictures with it!

We thought it was thirsty so we took it over to the water and it drank water! It was cute! Then we had to leave, I wanted to take it home but... Elder Larsen said no.... and it's against the rules!

I rang the bell:
We went to an old catholic church. There was a bell out front and I started to ring it! Then the guy who was showing us the church, told us, if we ring the bell people will start to come and think that someone died! My companion is dying[meaning his companion is going home soon] so I didn't feel bad! :)

25 Anniversary of the first missionary in Albania:
We went to Tirane this week because they were celebrating the first mission coming to Albania 25 years ago! It was sweet!

This is Sqiponia

This is how many people were there

It was super cool! And it was awesome to see how much work the missionary have put in to get a stake in Albania.

Spiritual Thought:
I am so grateful for Temples! At the Anniversary they talked about the day when Albania will have a temple. Temples are the house of God and it will be such a blessing for the Albanians to have a temple and not need to travel to Switzerland! I challenge all of you that live close to a temple to put in an effort to go once a week!

Love you all!

I'm now in Lushnje L-oo-sh-nee-uhh

I love having 3 companions! Lushnje is dope! We have been super busy with lessons. To get pants tailored, here in Lushnje, it's super cheep, only 100 lek or about 1 dollar! This week we had a lesson at this cool lake!

I caught a fly, we were in the middle of a lesson all these flies where flying around us. One landed on my leg, I swung my arm and caught it! I felt like Jackie Chan! Just sayin'

We went to the house of this member, and he had cute little bunnies and kittens and chicks (baby chickens.) They were all so cute!

Last Monday we got our bishop in Tirane a Snapchat! I hope that he uses it!

I can explain more through pictures!

Spiritual thought:
Alma 8:15 "Blessed art thou, (INSERT NAME HERE); therefore, lift up thy head and rejoice, for thou hast great cause to rejoice; for thou hast been faithful in keeping the commandments of God from the time which thou receivedst thy first message from him. Behold, I am he that delivered it unto you."
In this scripture you can truly see how much the Lord loves us and watches over us! I know that God looks out for us! When we are down, depressed, and have no hope. He will send help. He promises angel on our left and right. He will give us strength, and make our trials lighter, if we obey his commandments.  I hope this week we can all try to count or blessing to see how the must the Lord really cares about us!

Love you all!

watermelon and mosquitoes

I always make fun of people who go to Lushnje, for no reason at all, and now I am going there! It is a village that grows a lot of watermelons, and has a lot of mosquitoes. That is what I've heard. I am going to Watermelon and Mosquito Town!

I will be with Elder Larsen, from the MTC, and we will be killing Elder Holding!

Mission conference was awesome! We went to Elbasan! ate some good food, it was sweet! Because our mission president is from Switzerland he brought two 10 lb chocolate Toblerones for us. They were super good!

Missionary work is normal, Kl* got the Priesthood this week! life is good! :) I will miss all of my friends here in Tirane!

For Pday, we went up to Shkodra! It was super cool, we visited some members and ate with them! Yesterday, we ate with a members family and she made some super good food! I love Albanian food!

Spiritual thought:
During Mission Conference we had a lot of missionaries bear there final testimonies and I felt the spirit really strong. Our Mission President will be leaving soon and the main thing he talked about was how was need to teach with the spirit! I guess the spirit is really important!   I challenge you all the strive to feel the spirit everyday this week, by reading scriptures about Christ, and praying! Your lives will change!

Love you all!

The Albanian version of "Called to serve," says,"Para, gjithmon’ para... ("Onward, ever onward...)
Para, shkojm’ për para" (Forward, pressing forward")

Plot twist: The word "para" (means Onward, and Forward, in this song) it can also mean "Money." This is how I sing it (translated included)

"Money, Always' Money,
Money, we go for money"

This is my new favorite song! ;)

There was on earthquake here! There I was sitting in the church, having a lesson, when the church shook a little bit! It was an earthquake!!
Magnitude: 3.2 Depth: 1 km.

I was sitting at home when all of a sudden, I got a call from President.  At first I was like, oh crap! Then I was like, maybe he wants to congratulate me on surviving the earthquake? I answered it! He didn't wanna congratulate me, but it was okay. President invited us to go to lunch with him. He was going to lunch with a member and wanted us to translate! We got free food, and got to hang out with President and His wife! IT WAS DOPE!!

I thought that the earthquake was the coolest thing that happened this week until...Ba* (50 years old recent convert) was wearing some legendary Spider-man socks at Church! I was so proud of him!

Our investigators are all doing good. Missionary work is normal! Tomorrow we are going to Elbasan for mission conference!

Spiritual Thought: Alma 1:25 "Now this was a great trial to those that did stand fast in the faith; nevertheless, they were steadfast and immovable in keeping the commandments of God, and they bore with patience the persecution which was heaped upon them."

I am so grateful for their wonderful examples, and I hope that during our lives we can stand fast in faith, being steadfast and immovable in keeping the commandments of God, and be more patient during our persecutions and trials!

Love you all! have a great day!

My homie Kl* got baptized this week! He was feeling nervous about getting baptized through-out the week, then we reminded him how satan wants him to be nervous! After that he wasn't nervous anymore! He is AWESOME!

Also for the baptism, we made some cookies and my homie from Elbasan came down! #Goals! We went to Ndroq, this village 30 mins away from Tirane, with a bunch of the men in our ward! It was super dope I ate pizza!

Our Persian friend got his Book of Mormon and Gospel Principles book, in Persian, this week! He was so happy! He said "Westttooonn! I am Happy" It was cute! #ProudDad and he passed the sacrament again! If only we were like that when we get Books of Mormons! Know what I am sayin?

I had my last interview with President! He is such a smart guy! We are going to be getting a new President this next month! I will miss Pres.!

We went outside and tried to contact in the rain this week... it didn't work... so we tried to find people without umbrellas and walk with them! It was kinda effective! ;)

Spiritual thought: In district meeting we talking about the sacrament, making sure it is holy, and understanding the symbolism of the sacrament. It really helped me feel the spirit during sacrament on Sunday! It helped me think of why we are taking the sacrament! You all should try to make sacrament a more holy experience for your week!

Bishop calls us up and says "I want you to visit this member, she is less-active." We went over to her house and she had recently gotten married. Her Italian husband didn't "speak" Albanian or English. I say "speak" because he understood what we said but he couldn't speak and sometimes his wife translated for us! It was so weird! He was speaking to his mother-in-law, she doesn't speak Italian, and he doesn't speak Albanian, but they were both talking in those languages and the crazy part, they were having a conversation! IT WAS CRAZY!!!

I was at the church, I looked out the window, into a courtyard type thing, and I saw a cat sleeping there! So of course, I went out there and looked at the cat. It then woke up, and abruptly ran away! 2 days later, I saw it again and I tried feeding it but it ran away again!  So... the reason why I told you this story is because, if you were a cat, what type of food would you like?

It was raining so much this week! For 2 days in a row we got super wet! For the first day we were trying to wait for the rain to lighten up a little bit... but it didn't... so we just walked through it! The 2nd day we remembered an umbrella... or you could say someone forgot an umbrella at the church!

Our Homie Klaus and Aleks (Alex) are getting baptized this week and I am excited!  My sons passed the sacrament!  N* AND B*, passed the sacrament this week! You have no idea how cool it was to see both of them pass the sacrament, for the first time! It would be as if you had twins passing the sacrament for the first time and you taught them how to do that! know what I am sayin!?

Skyping the family was cool too! I love my family!

Spiritual thought:
"Believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them." Mosiah 4:10
It isn't just about knowing what the Gospel is, but we must apply in into our lives like King Benjamin said.
I have started to grow a love for the scriptures and all they teach me!

Love you all! have a great week

funny words

I am going to try to make this email fun

To start off the week, I went on an exchange! I went with my homie Elder Samuel who's from England. (His name is Elder Samuel because his last name is a swear word in Albanian :) ) He says he speak "English" but he uses a lot of funny words for example:

  • The pitch (the field)
  • Rubbish Bin (trash can)
  • Muppets (dumb people)
  • Trainers (any type of shoes)
  • What's the crack (what's up)
  • cheers (hi but also good bye....)
  • pub (bar)
  • Pants (not pants)

confusing huh?! for example:
"When I got to the pitch, with my trainers on, my mates said to me 'cheers' and I said 'what's the crack you rubbish bins? want to go to the pub?' Do you understand? I don't either! He is awesome though! As he might say "he is hard-bodied!" (he is cool)

Our work here is doing good. We have a new friend named Ar* who is super cool, the other Elders found him for us (because he lives in our area)! I was hoping people would just call us so we wouldn't have to street contact and it worked! #Blessed!   Our friend Al* didn't sleep in this week and came to church so I guess we could count that as a plus 1!

We played soccer (some might call it football) on the pitch this Saturday, then this morning we played soccer and american football, on the pitch, for P-day, with a lot of the missionaries in Tirane!
The office couple ordered 24 boxes of Russian pamphlets instead of 24 pamphlets this week! haha Don't tell!

Spiritual Thought:Nephi says this to his brothers
1 Nephi 11:17 "I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things." Sometimes you don't have to know everything to help other people! Maybe you just need to know that God loves us!  I know that I don't know the meaning of all things but I do know that God really does love us and will always love us!

Love y'all!
Have a great week!

In Albania they like to play this card game called Mulan! It is like the American "Scum" but with some other fun rules! It's a lot of fun! People here also really like dominoes and chess!

I gave a talk in church! It was good! first time in 16 weeks!
Persian guy is doing great I love his accent! "VestOn (a mix of Vest of Stone.) How are yoouuu? Good Tanks" what a champ! He is going to get the Priesthood next week! I am super excited! Also Baj* is going to get the Priesthood!

Had zone conference, at the end there was a ton of rice and chicken left so we grabbed a "plate" (A tray, it was free game) And have been eating that for the last 3 days! #blessed!  Speaking of food, you know how I do the fitness game right? yeah well I lost 10 lbs. Good? I don't know? anyways!

For P day we played soccer and frisbee! Then went to a shopping place! Bought some pants and stuff! It was fun!

Spiritual thought: In my talk, I talked a little about the Atonement. I have always loved this scripture in Isaiah 53:5
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed."
I am so grateful for my Savior and though his stripes we can receive forgiveness and be healed and be cleansed of our sins!

Have a great week!

Easter / Baptism

Last Monday Elder Lords (my old companion) and Elder Divkovic (my dad) came and stayed at our house for a night, while they were traveling. While they were at our house they said that I look super good. Maybe all that healthy eating has really helped! #Goals I know spinach doesn't taste good but just eat it! :)

Ba* got baptized this week!
On Tuesday he had his interview. Turns out he had an operation on his teeth, so when he came for the interview he had a bloody cloth in his mouth with about 3 teeth left. #PlotTwist
Then he got baptized on Thursday, right before I went to baptize him I showed him how I would be baptizing him. Then when I told him I would dunk him backwards he said "I will do it." I was kinda confusing and was like "..okay let's go" I said the prayer, then after, like he said, he fell back basically baptizing himself while he was holding my hands like you do. Right after that I pulled him back up! It was awesome!
His testimony was awesome too! TBH I don't know what I was expecting when he was about to give his testimony, but turns out he is an amazing story teller! He said that at first he came to the church just for english course. After we had some lessons. When the missionaries asked me to be baptized I told them that baptism will come like a fruit on a tree, it has to grow first, basically quoting Alma 32.

Then I was telling him how important it is to come to church and he promised me that he would come to church. He said he would come to church even if the dentist ended up cutting off his head. He did come to church with a head no worries!
Last week we baptized the Persian guy and he doesn't speak that good of Albanian, and this week we baptized Ba*. Ba* and Persian Guy are best friends! I don't know how they are such good friends or how they even speak to each other but they are. Ba* saw the Persian Guy's watch and said "I am going to give you a new watch." "why?" "just for fun! I have 3 of them" #BFF
BTW: In Albania they often name they children after people or things. For example Gezim which means Joy. Ba* is sacred Islamic religious celebration where they fast for a month. In one of our lessons Ba* told us that he has never participated in the celebration of Ba*.
I thought that this was super ironic that his name is Ba* but has never participated in Ba*. #Goals

This Saturday we had a ward party for Easter. We hid eggs and had some kids and Motra Hanci found them.

Easter: Church, we ate dinner at the Masefield and learned about Passover, Choir, and a devotional type thing at the mission couples house!

Spiritual Thought:
2 Nephi 2:26 " the Messiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may redeem the children of men from the fall. And because that they are redeemed from the fall they have become free forever"
I am so grateful for my savior and that this week we had an opportunity to remember his Eternal sacrifice so that we can "become free forever"
Read the Book of Mormon!!!

Love you all! Have a great week!

In Albanian the word "Përdorë" (to use) if you directly translate it, it means "For" and "Hand" or "to do something with a hand." Albanian is cool. Përballë (in front of) if you directly translate it, it means "For" and "Forehead" or "to do something with your forehead" Albanian is cool!

The best part of this week was when we were walking down the road when we saw a pet store with puppies inside and of course we played with them! They were so cute!

This week we sang in the road with a lot of other missionaries for the activities we will have for Easter!
We found a store that sells 20 cookies for 50 cents! #Goals! but I have been eating healthy this week except for that! Made home made pizza.

Spiritual Thought:
Easter is coming in less than a week and I would like to share my gratitude for my Savior and all that he has done for me! I know that Jesus is The Christ, he died for us and he overcame the sting of death.
I love this scripture in Isiah 1:18
"...though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
I am so grateful that though The Savior and His Atonement we may have our sins turn to white like wool.

Have a great week!!

Missionary work is great

Missionary work is great.... Baj* is doing great he loves church and was concerned if we would have baptismal clothes from him and stuff! Cute kid!

Nad* loved learning about prophets especially when he found out that their talks were translated into Persian. He has stopped smoking for 3 days thus far, it is a blessing because he has been smoking for the last 20 years of his life!

Ale* the lawyer, understands everything, is really smart and humble and was going to be a Catholic Priest but he said he didn't want to because he couldn't get married! lol now he is excited to get baptized!

Played basketball, Frisbee (today in the morning), and soccer.

This past week I got into chess but then I beat my companion to much and he quit. Need someone who will play chess with me (need Jason RN)

This member is really good at piano and set up a concert and it was great and we were going to get investigators but then we had to go when it ended so we couldn't meet any of them! LAME! HUH? but it was a great concert!

Spiritual Thought: I felt the spirit really strong this week when I was talking to people about the Atonement of Jesus Christ! I am so grateful for his enabling power and strength we get to overcome any temptation! You all should study the Atonement and try to understand it more!

Have a great week!

google translate

Transfers happend: I am with Elder Thomas now!

I went to a District Leader meeting, English course, district meeting, played soccer on Saturday, my companion hurt his foot, ate Chinese, had a ton of people in church (80), I translated a little bit for church!

We met our Persian guy, Nader. "We" (google translate) taught him the Word of Wisdom. He said that it will be hard because he has been smoking for 20 years. He said he will try so he can get baptized! He is so awesome!

This is a typical conversation with him on the phone:
Nader: "Weston, How are you?"
Me: "Good, how are you?"
Nader: "Good thanks."
Me: "what have you done today?"
Nader: "Good thanks."
Me: "Good..."
Nader: "Weston, we meet at the church today?"
Me: "Yeah at 4"
Nader: "yes at 4"
Me: "awesome"
Nader: "Thank you, good bye."
Me: "Thank, see you there."
Nader: "Thanks bye"
Nader=BFF (best friend forever)

Met a lawyer named Alex, he is awesome, his hair is great, he came to church, and he has a baptismal date. He is a big time lawyer. He reminds me of Jeff Winger from Community (just because he is a lawyer, no other reason)

My friend Joe came back to my ward for one last time before he leaves to Italy again! Had a lesson that was super spiritual! He is a great guy!

This American guy named Trevor from Organ came to church, he loves The Bible.

Spiritual Thought:
Corinthians 6:19-20: "know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s."

I saw this sign and I thought "Wow! I didn't know that the church puts up advertisements in Albania."
Our bodies are so sacred to our Father in Heaven and he asks that we take care of them. They were bought with a price, the price that Jesus Christ has to pay.
I am so grateful for My Savior Jesus Christ who payed the price for my amazing life!

We got transfer calls!! "Hey Elder Weston, you will be staying in Tirane 4th Ward, and your companion will be Elder Thomas." I was in the MTC with Elder Thomas so I am excited!

This week was dope!
Let me start with a funny story of my companion!

The Whistle
My companion saw this cool car. He was staring at it while we walked by this attractive girl. And then whistles, "whhho hooooo" (the whistle you do when you see a hot girl) it was intending for the car. But I didn't see the car ,but I saw the girl....Then I am like "you savage what are you doing?"
Companion: "did you see that car?"
Me: "no, did you see that girl"
Companion: "OH WHAT?!" **Looks back**
It was super funny! Great kid. I will miss him!

Some random guy picked us up this week, I would say hitch-hiking but he's just helpin a brother out!

This week our Persian friend finished the Book of Mormon, 2 weeks if you were counting! He is so awesome! He came to church and he loved it even though he didn't understand a lot! I am so excited for his baptism! He is going to be awesome! We can't find anybody who knows Persian... But at least he speaks a little English!

For missionaries: If you are finding it hard to get motivated to street contact, tell yourself "If you get 5 (or more) numbers in an hour, You can buy a crepe" I do it all the time and it is very effective!

Spiritual thought:
I have 2 quotes from our stake conference from last week:
1. "If you don't have time to pray, you are busier then God intended you to be"

2. "A special part of faith is knowing who God is, and not just knowing about him". If we want to develop a perfect Faith, we have to know God not just know who he is. I am so grateful for my personal relationship with the Savior, and I hope that you all will gain a relationship with him as well!

Also this is a cute kid in Pogradec that I saw this week!

My companion was doing call in's and I was doing dishes when I found all of these bubbles!

An expensive waffle

We did some service this week, Elder Farnsworth and I found a hoe, and I thought, "what should we do with this hoe? maybe take a picture with the hoe." So that is what we did, took a picture with the hoe! :)

I went on 2 exchanges! One with Elder Miller and with Elder Draper, they both are AWESOME! Elder Miller is from England and he thinks he knows english because he is from England, but I had to remind him "I am from The Land of The Free, Home of The Brave!" America! ;) . With Elder Draper, we had a killer time we played some games and ate some cookies dipped in Nutella, Healthy! For his bday we went to a killer waffle place! It was dope! (and missionary work)

We made a fruit salad for district lunch for 3 times in a row! You could say I am really good at making fruit salads now!

At church my friend ,Joe, from Elbasan who moved to Italy came! It was so awesome to see him again!!!

BTW: Important: I will not be able to email next week on Monday, because that is when mission conference will be, so we are going to be emailing on Wednesday!  This week is gunna be crazy!

Spiritual thought:We taught a lesson this week in Sunday school about Truth, and how we can know if something is true! It was awesome! We talking about Jacob 4:13
"for the Spirit speaketh the truth and lieth not. Wherefore, it speaketh of things as they really are, and of things as they really will be; wherefore, these things are manifested unto us plainly, for the salvation of our souls"
And 1 Nephi 10:19 "For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost, as well in these times as in times of old, and as well in times of old as in times to come; wherefore, the course of the Lord is one eternal round."

I know that for all of those people who are looking for the truth the best way is through the spirit! I know that The Book of Mormon is true, because every time I read it the spirit testifies of this fact!

Love you all!
Have a great week!

hitchhiking part 2

We have some great stories this week! You know what that means!! STORY TIME!

Deaf Guy:
I am about to get on the bus, when I started "talking" to someone. He looked at me and nodded his head no (which in Albania can mean anything.)  I was thinking, "So you don't want to talk... this is going to be an awkward bus ride", then he pulls out his phone, goes into notes and types: "I am deaf do you need something?" then boom, I started talking to him about the Gospel. We are going to meet again tomorrow!  If you were wondering! I am so gratefully we have pamphlets he can read!
Moral of the story: You don't need to talk to everyone, because you might be deaf.

Mario is going to get baptized on the 11th of March!

Me and my companion bought an air-freshener, NOT because our house smells bad, but just because our house doesn't have a smell. Now our house smells like lavender! It is great! After getting home from a hard day of work our house smells great!
Moral of the story: #Blessed

We made banana bread, it tasted good, but SOS we need a better recipe! :)

Hitchhiking Part 2:
The first time I hitchhiked I was with my German father, 2nd day in the country. The second time (this time) I was in the middle of a sketchy town late at night trying to get home.
Here's why:
We were at an investigators home, they fed us some great food, pasta, olives, spinach, then we had a lesson on Charity. We looked at the clock and it is 8:45. We have to get home in 45 mins. So we leave and start running to one of the two bus stops. As we are running on this road perpendicular to the road, when ZOOOM we see the last bus drive past! Then we are like, "Oh Crap" so we start walking down the long and dusty road, with our thumbs out hoping a nice person would pick us up and bring us to the next bus stop.  A couple of cars drive by without luck. Then this guy stops. (I say a quick prayer) and get it! He was a nice guy and takes us to the next bus stop. Then we ended up getting home exactly at 9:30 + or - 2 mins (according to the watch you look at.)
Moral of the story: hitchhiking is fun. Do it at home.

We played Frisbee a lot, we had a lot of fun lessons.  We saw a dog squad 12 of them!

Bajrëm "brings" a friend:
We met Bajrëm, (Bae-Rum) again after english course and right before the lesson he asked this 12 year old, btw Bajrëm is about 40, if he wants to join us in the lesson. Then he grabs him and pulls him into the lesson.
Moral of the story: it doesn't matter how you get people to come to the lessons, as long as they come!

We met this members Muslim family. They don't like missionaries that much. They are great.......

Spiritual Thought:
D&C 122:7 "...know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good."
When we have trials God saying that they are for our experience.  I am so grateful for all the blessing and trials in my life that help me gain experience and become a better person!

Love you all!  Have a great week!

American Fashion that's me

"Everyone" (kinda) is asking me what I am going to do for Valentines Day, well, I am going to wake up at 6:30am, get my hair looking nice, then make myself some eggs in a heart shape. #Goals

This week, we got a new investigator named Re* (re-shee-t) he is great and old.

We got an investigator, Na*, who wanted to set me and my companion up with some girls. He said he had a cute bar tender or something.. Yeah anyways... I don't think he was to interested to learn.

Friday we sang in some choir at this ceremony that the church had call "My Family Colors." It was interesting. All these people were taking pictures of us. It was weird. But seriously I have sang more this week then any other time of my life!

Then on Saturday the AP's baptized this one super cool guy! He is awesome! I have a picture!

This sign said "American Fashion" That's me!

Spiritual Thought:
Moses 7:18 " And the Lord called his people Zion, because they were of one heart and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them."
Mosiah 18:21 "And he commanded them that there should be no contention one with another, but that they should look forward with one eye, having one faith and one baptism, having their hearts knit together in unity and in love one towards another."
Often times we are angry with our friends with members of the church. The Lord commanded us to be one heart and one mind.
We are all on the same team.
If we will have our hearts knit together in unity and in love one towards another we will grow together and be stronger in the gospel!

I love you all!

1000 Leks ($10.00)

I found out that a kilogram of sausage was only 400 Lek, or about $3.60. No worries I bought it! I didn't want to lose money! And I might do it again this week! ;)

Interesting Fact: When Albania was under communist rule they changed the word "baptism" to "Pagezim," which means, "without joy." Pa: without, Gezim: Joy. Interesting huh?

This week was really interesting, We talked to a lot of people and a lot of them said they could meet... "neser, neser, neser" (tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow) which means "one day." Or they said "Do T'Ju Marr Vetë" (I will call you.) I am so excited for that "tomorrow" they are all going to meet with us! Or that day when they will call us!

We met this Guy from Brazil this week, he's a member. He was lost, we helped him find him home and the church, so he could come to church the next day! You probs could say we found a lost sheep!

We met this guy named Mario he is super cool! He is smart and I hope he gets baptized, 1. because baptism is great, 2. His name is Mario! Then I will find a Luigi

STORY TIME: This week we saw a couple of homeless people asking for money, we didn't get them any BUT. Later that day we went outside and went behind some building to pray and found 1000 Lek (10 dollars) and I thought "If the beggars would just go and pray God would take care of them." Moral of the story: "seek first the kingdom of God!" 3 Nephi 13:33

Spiritual Thought: This week I thought it would be nice to use the bible, In Isaiah 41:10 "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

I know that though the Lord we should never be afraid because he is always there for us and will always help us, like D&C 84:88 says " I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up."

I know that the lord will always be there to lift us up and help us!

I love you all!

"Good Tidings"

This week a lot of funny little things happened!

1. Mission Conference in my hometown ELBASAN! And they changed a lot of things like our schedule and key indicators and it was sweet seeing everyone again!

2. We didn't get a transfer call, so we are staying here in Tirana.

3. This guy got baptized then we had an Albania dancing party! It was sweet! And people brought food and we sold it so the young women could get money to go to the temple! I was spoiled in Utah!

4. Our homie Shefik read the Book of Mormon and wants to get baptized! I am so excited!

5. I made about 80 waffles, 6 times the recipe!

6. The lights when out during our English course and we had it in the dark! Good thing english is all about talking!

7. I tried to make cookies, we had 30 mins during lunch... they didn't work out!

And that is what happened to me this week!

Spiritual thought:
I was reading in 3 Nephi 20:40 "..How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings unto them, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings unto them of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion: Thy God reigneth!"

In Albanian "Good Tidings" Translates to "Good News." Also a lot times in the Albanian Bible they replace "Gospel" with "Good News"

How true this is! On the earth today the gospel is the best news that anyone can get! The gospel is the news of salvation. I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ who gave us His fathers gospel that we can return to Him, and that He restored the gospel upon the earth today! I love Him with all my heart.

I invite you all to bring Good tiding unto your friends, and publish peace by inviting people to church!

Love you all!

1/2 way

On Friday it will be my 1/2 way mark! "Woah, we're half way there Woah, livin' on a prayer" -Bon Jovi

Story Week:

Did you read "Wephi?"
We met Leonard again in the road this week! He said he was in Switzerland... It was funny because I saw him a couple more times.. he wasn't in Switzerland. haha! So we asked him if he had read the Book Of Mormon. He said "Yes", I asked him if he remembers Nephi "Yes." By this time, I knew he was lying so I asked him "have you read Wephi?" Don't worry everyone He read from the book of Wephi! I don't know what book he has, but he read it! So..... yeah we aren't planning on meeting him again!  Moral of the story: If they read "Wephi" ask them if they are really reading the Book of Mormon or not!

He was a member.. #PlotTwist:
I meet this guy in the road, we were talking for a while and he never told me he was a member from the 2nd ward, and I didn't ask either. So... I set up a lesson "with this investigator." The next day we were in the church with these 2 members and they were saying they were waiting for the 2nd ward Elders. The other Elders told me they were weekly planning, but never answered their phone. After about 20 mins of waiting they left, the members left, then I tried to call that "Investigator that was coming." I call the members that were walking away............ It was Awkward! Moral of the Story:"are you a member"

This week we found a lot more people, President came to our district meeting, had an interview, and we started English course! Our homie Armando came to church!

Spiritual Thought:
Helaman 3:8 "Yea, thus we see that the gate of heaven is open unto all, even to those who will believe on the name of Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God." God invites all of his children to come unto him though us! Help God's work by inviting people to learn more about God!

Love you all! Have a great week!
